Who We Are
WRP Wealth Management has been providing exceptional financial guidance for over three decades, tailored to clients with complex planning requirements. The journey began in 1990 when Alan Werba pioneered a fee-based, client-focused tax and financial planning firm in San Jose. Aaron Rubin joined the firm in 2009 after working with high-net-worth clients in public accounting. The firm became known as Werba Rubin Wealth Management.
In 2007, Jason Papier launched Fluent Wealth Partners, a fee-only financial planning firm with a focus on research-based investment practices. The two firms merged in 2017 to form Werba Rubin Papier Wealth Management, offering a comprehensive approach to wealth management. This approach encompasses tax planning and preparation, investment management, and financial planning.

Jason Papier was born and raised in Sunnyvale, California, where he watched the Silicon Valley grow from a string of small startups to some of the world’s largest companies.
Jason participated in this growth, working at both public and private companies early in his career. In 1998 he started as employee number 11 at an Andreessen-backed technology company. Along the way his interest in personal finance, particularly management of equity compensation, grew. This eventually led him to leave corporate life and begin studies in personal finance.
In 2001, Jason began working as a financial planner at PW Johnson Wealth Management, a fee-only firm supporting high net worth individuals and families. While there, Jason was also the COO of Advisor Press, a publisher of personal finance books. During that period, he co-hosted what was then the #1 financial podcast on iTunes. The podcast interviewed financial luminaries such as Steve Forbes and Nobel Prize winning economist Bill Sharpe.
In 2007 Jason founded Fluent Wealth Partners, expanding his focus to executives in growing tech hubs such as Austin, The Research Triangle in North Carolina, and the greater Boston area. As hubs have emerged in other regions, such as Colorado, New York, and Florida, he’s continued to expand his geographical footprint. Fluent merged with Werba Rubin Wealth Management in 2017.
Jason holds a bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University and a master’s degree in Wealth Management from Columbia University. He remains active at Columbia, where he teaches the capstone course in wealth management through the master’s program. Jason also helped to fund and launch the Columbia Wealth Management Diversity Fellowship. In 2023 he and his fellow founders were honored as the alumni recipients of the Dean’s Excellence Award.
Jason has sat on many non-profit boards including Hope Services, Neighborhood Housing Services, and the San Jose Public Library Foundation. He continues to give back to charities around the country through volunteer work and economic support.
